QUICK TIP
You may want to file this helpful information from the March/April 1999 Children’s Ministry magazine:
Please note that if you show videos to children [other audiences too!], consider purchasing the Motion Picture Licensing Corporation (MPLC) Umbrella License for the public performance of home videos. The license costs $95 per year, and it allows your church to show copyrighted videos legally. Their address is 5455 Centinela Ave., P.O. Box 66970, Los Angeles, CA 90066-6970. Or call 800-462-8855.
Last year’s Advent/Christmas issue (RW 49) brought more responses than we could print, especially in appreciation of “Roll Call of Light Bearers” (see p. 48). Who would have thought that Roger Visker’s creative ideas highlighting a “simple” genealogy in Matthew 1 would have sparked so many equally creative adaptations in churches large and small? (He was “humbled and amazed” when we sent him some of these replies.) While one church wrote that they could never consider that service because “it’s for a cast of more people than we have in church on Sunday morning,” another very small congregation adapted it with only two people doing the readings.
We are grateful that RW can share so many helpful resources with our readers, though we receive far more than we can print. Please continue to send us your fresh service planning ideas as well as your feedback on how you used or adapted ones we print in RW.
