The title describes the book well. The volume includes a discussion of biblical principles of social justice, something that has been done before—often. The genius of the book lies in its application of these principles to the worship service. How can hospitality, acceptance of all people, compassion, justice, and stewardship for the creation be expressed in our gathering for Word and sacrament? Implications for architecture, seating arrangement, visuals, communion elements—all of these are dealt with in an imaginative manner. The book also includes prayers, litanies, and other resources. Not every congregation will implement all of these suggestions, but even selective use of the resources will help us escape the wrath of God as expressed in Isaiah 1:10-17.
